Former WNBA star Shantel Hardison lost her son, Kendall, to complications of an enlarged heart nearly seven years ago. She has since established the Kendall Hardison Foundation, which has funded a turkey giveaway and toy drive for those in need and will soon offer a college scholarship. Hardison has also made it her mission to promote heart health and to encourage people to get a check-up as soon as possible. She credits her triumphs to her grandchildren and to the realization that life can be more fleeting than you think.
