The story behind the historic open-air swimming pool in Shere, England, dates back to 1875 and is believed to be one of the oldest open air baths in the country. The pool was built by Lady Arthur Russell, who rented the land from the lord of the manor, the Bray family, and in 1891 the pool was given to the people of Shere on a 200-year lease. Despite not having a lifeguard, the pool is still a popular attraction, with members-only membership required to sign up for safety reasons.
