The Raritan Borough Planning Board has approved a 276-unit development application by Raritans Mall Urban Renewal LLC on a flood-prone site. The project would be built on a 10.88-acre property and include about 20,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space, a garage, surface parking, indoor and outdoor amenities, and landscaping. The housing mix includes 234 market-rate units and 42 affordable housing units. Concerns were raised about the site being a capped landfill in a floodplain and has flooded in the past, including during Hurricane Ida.
