Director Ally Pankiw, the director of the Hulu documentary, has reflected on the history of the '90s-era music festival, Lilith Fair, which was a pioneering event for female artists in the music industry. She explained that it was the first time someone had stood up to myths and lies being told to women and diverse artists in music industry, particularly those of Sarah McLachlan, who were told they couldn't perform at the festival due to the power-system structure being manipulated by female artists. Despite the festival's success and popularity, she believes there is potential for a revival of the event. Pankw also expressed personal interest in the documentary, as well as a reminder of the importance of unlearning the era of misogyny and homophobia and racism experienced during the time of the festival.
