The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has accused an illegal immigrant, Roman Ceron Amatitla, of murdering four people in a March 16 arson in Flushing, New York City. DHS claims that Amaratitla is a Mexican national who should be turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement. However, a request for an ICE detainer from the New York city Department of Corrections was rejected. DHS also criticizes Mayor Zohran Mamdani's refusal to cooperate with ICE for allowing criminal illegal immigrants to reoffend and create more innocent victims. The fire left four people dead and seven others injured. The suspect allegedly told police he had been fired from his job after a fight and needed to get his anger out.
