Beavan Zulu, a 27-year-old actor and singer, used an unconventional fundraising method to raise $50K for his grandfather's heart surgery. His grandfather, Rebby Malekani Chanda, was diagnosed with a serious heart condition and urgently needed a specialized procedure called Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT). Zulu used a video of "Let It Go" from Frozen to raise over $10,000 for his grandpa's GoFundMe. The video immediately went viral and Zulu continued to raise the funds further. He then learned about how to make videos to spread awareness for his grandson's surgery. Once he had access to his phone, Zulu worked on a film set for 12 hours without access to it.
