The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has been accused of funneling millions of dollars to white nationalist groups, including the Ku Klux Klan, despite claiming to be fighting against white supremacy and racial hatred. The SPLC claims it was funding informants inside these extremist groups. The Justice Department's indictment alleges that the SPLC directed over $1 million to an affiliate of the National Alliance, more than $300,000 to a member of the Aryan Nations, over $270,000 for an unnamed white nationalist group member, and over $140,000 towards the former chairman of this group. The FBI Director, Kash Patel, stated that funds were used to facilitate the commission of further state and federal offenses, totalling over $3 million. Bryan Fair, interim president and CEO of the SPCL, admitted that the group had paid informants in white nationalist organizations and had faced threats before and after.
