NYPD to increase security around synagogues amid increased terrorist threat

The NYPD is increasing security around synagogues across New York City as it prepares for the Passover holiday season amid an increased terrorist threat. Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch described the most turbulent and threatening climate of her career as a counter terrorism expert. She cited four terrorist attacks on U.S. soil since the Iran-US attack on Iran on February 28, including an attempted bombing outside Gracie Mansion on the Upper East Side. The NYPD is deploying assets including counter-terrorism divisions, the critical response command, heavy weapons teams and K-9 units to high-threat locations throughout the city to combat the threat.
