Water and wildlife return to 'neglected' Clavering ponds

The restoration of these ponds, on the Hertfordshire-Essex border, has resulted in a significant increase in water and wildlife activity. The restoration was undertaken by conservationist Jilly McNaughton, who saw the ponds for the first time in over a decade. The work involved coppice surrounding trees to allow more sunlight and restore the original pond basins. Additionally, smooth newts have been spotted breeding in the ponds.
