The four astronauts on the Artemis II mission around the moon were able to fix a malfunctioning toilet on the Orion spacecraft after a night of troubleshoot. The toilet, which will be the first time in deep space, malfunctioned due to a controller issue and a short-lived communication issue, a shut water tank valve, and an electrical current failure. The mission will not require alternative waste operations during the 10-day trip. The crew's spacesuits have built-in waste disposal apparatus, which can send their urine venting out into space. The first flight of Orion with humans on board set up future missions including a moon landing attempt in 2028.
