West Fargo police say AI facial recognition is a 'last-ditch' tool

West Fargo police have been using AI facial recognition for years, with the use of it in hundreds of investigations. The use of the technology was recently spotlighted for its role in an investigation involving a Tennessee woman. Only two specially trained officers have access to the technology, trained by the software company Clearview AI, and the police have a strict policy on who and when they can use it. They use it to identify suspects through their system, with a 99% accuracy rate.
