Rep. Lauren Boebert, a Republican from Colorado, is planning a motion to expel Minnesota Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar from Congress over allegations of an incestuous marriage. The move comes as part of a broader effort by the GOP to deflect from Democrats' attention to the Somali fraud scandal and the recent rape accusations against now-former Democrat Rep. Eric Swalwell. However, expelling Omar would require proof that she committed immigration fraud by marrying her brother in 2009. Vice President JD Vance, who is leading a new anti-fraud task force, and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller have reportedly discussed the expulsion plan. If the administration produces evidence of Omar's alleged crime, Boebert plans to take the lead on expulsion.
