Family, friends celebrate life of Mass. girl killed in Utah avalanche

Madelyn Eitas, an 11-year-old girl from Rochester, Massachusetts, died in an avalanche while on a family ski vacation in Utah on Feb. 19. Her family celebrated her life with a celebration at a celebration held by her soccer sisters. While on the ski trip, Madelyn and her brother Cam shared the same Avalanche app, which enabled them to locate her and first responders to perform life-saving measures. Despite her survival, the family credits technology for helping them find her sooner than later. Rochester police Chief Michael Assad Jr. called for the community to come together to support the Eitas family.
