Harry Reid International Airport in Nevada will participate in the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program, a global initiative that aims to aid travelers with nonvisible disabilities. The program, which started at London Gatwick Airport in 2016, uses a green sunflower lanyard as a discreet way to indicate that a traveler may be diagnosed with a nonvisible disability and may need assistance. The lanyards, which do not provide priority access or expedited screening through the TSA security lines, can help airport staff understand when a traveler might benefit from additional time or assistance. Travelers can pick up a lanyarding free of charge at information counters throughout the airport and request a sunflanyard be mailed to them at no cost before their trip.
