Port Jefferson Man Back On Track After 'Life-Saving' Dual Cardiac Surgeries At Stony Brook

Humberto Cordero, a 52-year-old man from Port Jefferson, underwent dual cardiac surgeries at Stony Brook in 2025, including a valve-sparing aortic root replacement and an aortsic valve repair. The procedure was successful, removing the risk of a life-threatening aneurysm and allowing the patient to maintain their natural aorticular valve. Corderos was home about one week after the surgery. He credits his experience to a new appreciation for life and urges others to make a point of vascular and heart health screening as a routine wellness measure.
