Breezes subside setting up a warmer Mother’s Day weekend

The weather pattern around the Cascades has shifted, allowing for a warmer Mother’s Day weekend, typically occurring when high pressure over the northeast Pacific creates onshore breezes from the chilly offshore waters inland. This shift is due to increased high pressure aloft giving a downward force to air in the atmosphere, which will allow for less cloud cover and less wind east of the Cascade range. High clouds will likely increase over the area later Saturday through Sunday, but not enough to disrupt a pleasant weekend. High temperatures in Western Washington will remain warmer than average, with temperatures expected to remain above normal.
