He uses technology such as the Brick, an NFC-enabled device that can be placed anywhere in the home, to disable distracting apps and wake him up in the morning. These tools have helped him cut pre-sleep doomscrolling, go to bed quicker, and feel calmer upon falling asleep. Treisman also uses these devices to prepare for bedtime and for morning use. Sleep trackers like the Oura Ring 4 allow users to see their behaviors and choices before bedtime to understand how they impact sleep. The app alerts users to a few scores each morning and alerts them about illness.
