The 10th anniversary of the US liquefied natural gas (LNG) export is being celebrated for its success over the past decade. The U.S. Energy Information Administration's graph on LNG gross exports from 2015 to 2027 shows a surge in exports, starting at zero in 2015, rising to about 2 billion cubic feet per day (Bcfd) by 2017, then rising again to 20 Bcfd by 2027. This success is attributed to American ingenuity and the ineffectiveness of efforts by European countries to ban imports of American LNG. By 2023, America had become the world's largest LNG exporter, pumping out roughly a quarter of global supply. The economic and geopolitical benefits this shift in reality are also noted. LNG exports underpin nearly 500,000 jobs and contribute to our GDP of $1.3 trillion. Despite domestic gas prices remaining among the lowest in the industrialized world.
