A massive sinkhole on South Kihei Road near Kamaole Beach Park II has caused significant storm damage, but many businesses have reopened. The damage was caused by a powerful Kona low, which left trees, the sidewalk, and a large section of roadway completely collapsed. Bartender and musician Eammon McKinney expressed concern over the damage, while businesses are dealing with challenges including internet and computer functions. Residents attribute the intensity and speed of the rainfall to the rainfall. Despite the flooding, North Kihei remains a mess and several businesses are still closed. The storm also left nearly 13K still without power on Maui, Hawaii Island.
