Director Andrew Davis visited the home of Harrison Ford during a tour of the film "The Fugitive," which was set to shoot around Chicago. The film was inspired by a chance encounter with director Norbert Gleicher over Italian food at Bice. The director had to adapt the script and manage to run the kitchen while working on the script. Scenes were shot at the University of Chicago Medical Center, where Ford shadowed surgeon Bruce Gewertz and influenced the character's appearance. The movie, based on a popular TV series from the 1960s, became a box-office hit and incorporated actual footage from the city's Chicago River dyeing and St. Patrick's Day Parade.
