NASA kills lunar space station to focus on ambitious Moon base

NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman outlined a vision for the next decade, including a nuclear-powered mission to Mars and major changes to commercial space stations. He also outlined a detailed plan to construct a substantial Moon base over a decade, which includes long-range drones, multiple sources of power, sophisticated communications, permanent habitats, scientific laboratories, and local manufacturing. Isaacman stated that if NASA does not succeed now, it will cede the Moon to China. He emphasised the expense of maintaining a Lunar Gateway in orbit around the Moon, stating that NASA will instead focus its energy and resources on the lunar surface.
