Spy Coffee, Robots, and Akio AI: A Visit to Toyota’s Futuristic Woven City

Toyota's Woven City, a futuristic, real-world lab in Japan where the automaker and partners could develop new technologies, was first announced at the 2020 CES technology show. The first residents (Weavers) moved in in the fall of 2025, with around 100 living in the planned community today. With the support of these Weavers, engineers have more freedom to experiment with new ideas. The term "POC" is a key word for the development of technologies, taken from the English Proof of Concept. The most promising tech is a vertical tablet device developed by Woven by Toyota (the automaker's arm responsible for the City and related effects) that includes a camera that points down on a student's notebook.
