The weekend rain is predicted to bring much-needed drought relief to the Carolinas, with significant rainfall possible across the region. The final showers and thunderstorms moved through the Charlotte area early Thursday morning, but should clear out by noon when temperatures should reach around 75 degrees. Friday will be dry for most of the day with partly cloudy skies, but rain is expected late Friday evening as a weather system moves in from the Gulf Coast. Saturday will be the main rain day, with widespread drizzle and rainfall expected from Friday night through Saturday afternoon. The rain is beneficial for the drought-stricken region, with some areas potentially receiving closer to an inch south of I-85. The weather will remain largely dry through the middle of next week, but a potential cold front may approach late next week and potentially bring another round of rain.
