Athena Strand's mother, Maitlyn Gandy, revealed the final words she told her daughter, who was kidnapped and murdered, before she was murdered. Former FedEx driver Tanner Horner, is awaiting his fate as a jury considers sentencing him to death or life imprisonment for the kidnapping and murder of Athena Strand. Gandy stated that she told Athena that she would see her daughter on Friday, the last time she saw her alive. Horner had pleaded guilty to kidnapping and murdering Athena just before his trial began. His defense argues that he has Aspergers syndrome and should be spared the death penalty.
