Hulu's "The Testaments" spinoff of "The Handmaid's Tale" is about girlhood in Gilead, a totalitarian society where women were stripped of their rights. The film, based on a novel by Margaret Atwood, takes place five years after the events of the original series and follows privileged girls on the cusp of adulthood. Viewers are reintroduced to Aunt Lydia, who now runs a school training girls for marriage and babies. The show aims to create new inspiration for girls and women, focusing on the young women who have only known GileAD. Bruce Miller, creator of "Handmaids," said both shows tell stories about oppression of women.
