The Senate Judiciary Committee has called for a government monopoly on medical resident matching, citing the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). The committee found that the Match is overly burdensome and prevents residents from negotiating employment terms. The report also noted that resident wages are significantly lower than those of their fully-licensed counterparts, despite advanced degrees.
