San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie is set to visit Shanghai, Seoul, and Seoul, South Korea for his first international trip in office. The trip will focus on tourism and an arts and culture exchange. Both cities are sister cities of San Francisco. Lurie hopes this trip will strengthen ties with Chinese and Korean communities and attract more visitors to San Francisco, where nearly 300,000 people from China and 147,000 from South Korea are expected to visit this year and generate over $840 million in economic impact. In 2019, Chinese travelers accounted for 15% of the spending in San Francisco and contributed $1.2 billion to the economy.
