Cleveland's Mayor Justin Bibb has proposed a $600 million concept for Burke Lakefront Airport, a site that has been largely inaccessible to the public for decades. The concept includes a lakefront promenade, restaurants, a marina, trails, hotels, a youth sports complex, RV camping, and a 100-acre golf course. However, it also includes a small "vertiport" for helicopter traffic. The proposal is part of a larger effort to bypass the bureaucratic process of closing Burke, which would require federal approval from the FAA. If successful, it would free up roughly 450 acres of publicly owned lakefront. The proposed amenities could include year-round lakefront activities and landmark landmarks.
