A Fayetteville boy, Blake Deven, was reported missing two years ago and later murdered by adoptive mother, Avantae Deven. The case later escalated into a murder investigation, with both Blake and his adoptive sister, London, being starved, abused and neglected, and both died. Their adoptive mother was arrested and indicted on Monday. Blake's birth mother, Felicia Chandler, has kept in touch with her two biological sons, Blake's brothers, who are currently in foster care. Chandler expressed concern about her sons' mental health and fears that one of her surviving sons will age out of the foster system this year and she will never reunite with him. Since Blake's death and Deven's arrest, North Carolina passed the Fostering Care in NC Act, which allows for additional support for those who have experienced foster care to transition to adulthood.
