Austin's deadliest mass shooting in six decades occurred early Sunday morning on West Sixth Street, killing four people, including the gunman, and injuring 13 others. The suspect, identified as 53-year-old Ndiaga Diagne, drove a large SUV around the block several times before stopping near Buford's Backyard Beer Garden and firing a pistol into the crowd. He then began walking east with an assault rifle, shooting at people along the way. Police confronted him at an intersection, where they shot and killed him. The FBI joined the investigation after preliminary evidence indicated a potential nexus to terrorism. The victims were identified as Ryder Harrington, Savitha Shan, and Jorge Pederson, who later died.
