Super-rich travelers are using private jets to escape Middle East conflict, pushing charter prices sky-high

Demand for private charter flights out of the Middle East has surged since the beginning of the US-Israeli conflict with Iran, leading to high prices for flights. The conflict, which began on February 28, has caused the biggest disruption to air travel across the Gulf region since the Covid-19 pandemic. John Matthews, chairman and founder of private jet company AirX, said that demand has increased as commercial airline schedules across parts of the region have become limited or unreliable. Private charter flights are popular with ultra-high-net-worth families, multinational corporations, and larger groups such as sports teams and touring productions. However, private charters will not significantly reduce travel disruption due to their unaffordable costs and lack of capacity.
