Anthropic has inadvertently leaked a valuable internal code that powers its most valuable artificial intelligence tool, Claude Code, by accident. The code, which serves as instructions for Claude Code and allows developers and businesses to program and build applications of their own, has been removed from more than 8,000 copies and adaptations of the source code from developers' shared on programming platform GitHub. The leak did not reveal any customer information or data, but revealed valuable information that helps Anthropic stay ahead of competitors and gives hackers more ammunition to exploit Claude Code or use its model to launch cyberattacks. The incident has set Anthropic back in terms of its safety reputation and in the competitive battle for enterprise customers.
