The US Justice Department has sued Minnesota for its involvement in a climate deception lawsuit against three oil companies, including ExxonMobil, Koch Industries, and the American Petroleum Institute, claiming they deceived and defrauded Minnesotans about the causes of climate change. The lawsuit has been stalled by appeals and is now being pursued by the Department of Public Affairs. The DOJ argues that the state oversteps by attempting to regulate greenhouse gas emissions, which the department says falls under federal authority.
