A prominent San Francisco mansion, known as the Herbst Mansion and Coxhead Mansion, has sold to the Algerian government for over two years after languishing on the market for two years. The house was built in 1899 for wealthy art collector Sarah Spooner and later owners were John A. McGregor and his family. The most recent owners, Ken McNeely and Inder Dhillon, were asking $15 million for it when it hit the market in late 2023, but after some reductions, it sold for just under $10 million. The buyers, the government of Algeria, are reportedly looking to use it as entertaining space for their offices. The mansion's last sale was in 2014 for $8.6 million.
