Darryl Okeefe Efford, a Miami Gardens man, has been charged with vehicular homicide in relation to a high-speed crash in which one person was killed and another injured in 2000. The incident occurred on West Sunrise Boulevard on July 7, 2020. According to a probable cause affidavit, Efford was driving 100 mph in his 2019 Subaru WRX when he T-boned a 2013 Mercedes trying to turn left onto Northwest 43rd Avenue. The airbag control module showed that Efford had sped up to 100 mph before the accident. A traffic crash reconstruction by a consulting firm found that Effort's actions indicated a willful disregard for the safety of others on the road.
