Nashville anchored Tennessee's population growth in 2025

Davidson County, Tennessee, remained the fastest-growing county in Tennessee in 2025, according to new U.S. Census Bureau data. The county added nearly 9,300 new residents to its population in 2025 - the highest raw total among all of Tennessee's 95 counties - a 1.3% growth year over year. Domestic migration from other states drove this growth, but a decline in international migration due to President Trump's immigration crackdown led to a halt in all other counties' growth. Meanwhile, neighboring suburban counties such as Rutherford, Wilson, Williamson and Sumner also saw significant growth.
