Virginia Dems Backtrack On Gun Bill Exemption After Backlash

Democrats in the Virginia General Assembly have reversed course after initially exempting themselves from provisions of a gun law they sent to Democratic Gov. Abby Spanberger. The bill, HB110, initially exempts General Assembly members from a prohibition on leaving a firearm in an unattended vehicle. However, when the conference committee sent the legislation out for passage, the exemption was removed. The revised legislation passed by party-line votes and has been criticized by the National Rifle Association as "egregious".
