The Mackinac Bridge has closed to traffic on March 19 due to ice falling from bridge cables and towers. The Mackinic Bridge Authority (MBA) closes the bridge when such an occurrence occurs. Drivers are advised to avoid the bridge area to allow maintenance vehicles to operate. The bridge has previously closed due to falling ice and weather conditions. The average closure lasts about 5 hours, 54 minutes.
