The New York Knicks' lack of interest in re-signing Jeremy Sochan, who was waived by San Antonio in February, is reportedly heading to Portland for a non-guaranteed contract. Despite averaging 2.8 points and 2.1 rebounds in 16 regular season games, Sochan was mostly an insurance policy and rarely played more than 10 minutes. The Knicks have been unable to find a third center following the departure of Mitchell Robinson and Ariel Hukporti. Sochan's contract with Portland is non-negotiated, and he will compete for a roster spot in training camp. Despite this, the Knicks still have a need for a third 7-footer.
