Archaeologists have discovered the remains of Charles de Batz de Castelmore d'Artagnan, a 17th-century French soldier who served King Louis XIV as captain of the Musketeers. His remains have been missing for over 350 years since he was killed during a siege of Maastricht in 1673. Archaeologists have now found remains at St Peter and Paul Church in Wolder, MaastRicht, where top-ranking individuals often usually buried at the nearest church. The discovery was made through ground subsidence, which had shifted a section of the church floor, cracking some of the tiling. The identity of the bones is being confirmed through a DNA match with d'artagnan's bloodline.
