UC Berkeley Drops Cesar Chavez's Name From Student Center

UC Berkeley has removed Cesar Chavez's name from a student center building on Lower Sproul Plaza from its name following a New York Times investigation revealed that he allegedly sexually assaulted female followers as young as 12 and raped United Farm Workers co-founder Dolores Huerta in 1966. The building will now be known as the Student Center until the renaming process is completed. University officials began a review of the student center's name after the allegations were brought to light.
