The New Mexico Forward Party has filed a lawsuit against the state's constitution, alleging that the current rules require 7,100 signatures for minor party candidates and twice that for independents. The party argues that this makes it easier for non-partisan candidates to get on the ballot. It also criticizes the requirement of 2,500 signatures for major party candidates.
