Liberal MP Moira Deeming has withdrawn a Supreme Court challenge against her own party, following an unsubstantiated assault allegation against former leader Matthew Guy. Deeming, who sits in the upper house for the Western Metropolitan Region, had been seeking a last-ditch appeal to avoid being disendorsed. She sent a 12-page statement to the Liberals’ state executive outlining a mediation proposal to end the Supreme Court action. Deemed had accused her colleague of grabbing her “violently” in a headlock, but claimed she misunderstood the meaning of the headlock.
