The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has proposed a new proposal that would extend a ban on companies adding to the Covered List, which the FCC believes poses a national security risk to the US. Companies such as Huawei, Hikvision, Dahua, Hytera and ZTE have been added to the list. The 2021 ban would only apply to new models that the FCC hadn't authorized. If approved, this proposal would ban these companies entirely. The proposal will be open for comment until May 6 before the commission votes on whether to adopt it. This follows a recent decision by the FCC effectively banning the sale of future foreign-made Wi-Fi routers.
