March Madness is a popular event at work, with many workers feeling left out due to the incessant chatter about sports. However, this distraction may lead to confusion or confusions within the workplace. Challenger, Gray & Christmas has reported that employers lose $12 billion a year as workers watch games and tend to brackets on the clock. Workplace culture expert Ray White suggests that while sports enthusiasm naturally appears at work and can be appreciated, it may not be a big deal for everyone. The healthiest workplaces make room for these conversations without assuming everyone shares the same level of interest or knowledge. The positive impact of interest-based activities at work is also seen as a secondary benefit as employees already feel their interests matter.
