The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJEP) is hosting a community "visioning session" to discuss the next leg of the Essex-Hudson Greenway, which officially began last year. The project aims to transform an old nine-mile railroad line in North Jersey into a 100-foot-wide biking and hiking path that will cross through eight towns in some of the most densely populated parts of the state. Construction is already underway on the nearly one-mile Newark portion of the park and is expected to open in 2027. The public will be able to learn more about the Glen Ridge segment at an open house-style event on March 21.
