Australian cyclist Rohan Dennis, former world champion and Olympic track cyclist, has defended his actions following his wife's death in 2023 after she was hit by a car driven by Dennis. Dennis admitted to an aggravated count of creating the likelihood of harm and was sentenced to one year, four months and 28 days in jail, suspended for two years, and his driver's license was suspended for five years. In a statement on social media, Dennis stated that he loved his wife and never intended to harm her.
