A data center proposal in Lower Mount Bethel Township, Northampton County, has raised concerns about potential harm to wildlife. The proposal involves a new data center campus on a stretch of farmland also home to two bald eagles. Concerns were raised at a meeting of more than 100 people due to parking safety concerns and an occupancy limit exceeding in the township building. Sampson Metzgar from Pocono Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center expressed concern about the potential harm of these majestic eagles, stating that they are highly protected under laws such as the Migratory Bird Act and the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act. He warned that tampering with the nest could result in federal charges.
