Alaska's largest utilities, Enstar and Chugach Electric, have made their case to state regulators for support of separate LNG import projects. The Regulatory Commission of Alaska has opened an investigation into whether the two competing plants will be excessive and increase customer costs. Enstar is working with Glenfarne under an exclusivity agreement to develop a new LNG importing facility in Nikiski, the Cook Inlet Gateway import terminal, and Chogach Electric is looking at buying gas from Harvest Midstream, a privately held affiliate of Hilcorp.
