Texas Southern: Former Coach Urges Leaders to Hear Alumni on Hires

Texas Southern University is preparing to hire two influential leaders in its athletics department, Dr. Lacey Reynolds, a professor in the College of Education and former head basketball coach of the Lady Tigers, has urged university officials to consider alumni sentiment in their decisions. Reynolds advocated for interim men's basketball coach Shyrone Chatman to be considered for the permanent position and suggested Tony Wyllie, an accomplished NFL executive, for the athletic director position. The university has been without a permanent athletic director since Dr. Kevin Granger's departure. Meanwhile, Texas Southern has yet to name a permanent men's coach since Johnny Jones resigned from the position. Reynolds' letter urges university leadership to acknowledge alumni support and engagement.
